Location: Room 478, O'Dowd Hall, Oakland University and streamed virtually via ZoomPresenter:David Fulton, Ph.D.Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Regent’s Professor and Kupperman Chair in Cardiovascular Disease at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta UniversityDescription:Dr. Fulton’s laboratory has developed a novel model of obesity that circumvents major obstacles in the field, the reliance on diet-inducible models and the infertility of genetic models. Their approach takes advantage of newly developed adeno-associated virus capsids that directly target the brain to deliver orexigens. They have investigated the consequences of obesity in this model and found some anticipated changes including vascular dysfunction, but also some unexpected effects on metabolism. In addition to presenting his seminar, Dr. Fulton will meet individually or in small groups with interested individuals on April 2 and 3. These meetings are open to all OUWB and OU faculty, staff and trainees. The small group setting will provide an opportunity to discuss Dr. Fulton’s NIH-funded research and your research interests. If you are interested in attending one of these meetings, please email Richard Kennedy, Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies. The meetings will be scheduled once faculty, staff and student interests are identified.
