The absence of a chordal instrument creates a uniquely uncluttered texture for both players and listeners, with a repertoire that includes standards, original compositions, and a diverse array of other challenging pieces curated specifically for this format. Tod Dickow - Sax San Francisco-based saxophonist Tod Dickow performs in a wide variety of settings, ranging from big bands to small combos, adding a dynamic voice as an accomplished soloist and accompanist. His style is steeped in the traditions of bebop and modern jazz, influenced by masters such as John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, and more. He is also heavily influenced by a crop of Coltrane devotees, including Michael Brecker, Dave Liebman, Steve Grossman, and Bob Berg. As a frequent guest of the band Charged Particles, Tod has been performing with legendary trumpeter Randy Brecker at many of the top jazz venues around the world, such as Ronnie Scott’s, Birdland, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, Vibrato, Blues Alley, Dazzle Denver, Keys Jazz Bistro, the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society, and SFJAZZ. Jim Kerwin – Bass Jim plays in a wide variety of musical styles, being equally at ease playing Rock, Jazz, Classical, and Bluegrass. Among his many accomplishments, he toured Europe with the Larry Blackshere Trio for five years, and upon returning to the United States he began playing with Mandolinist’s David Grisman Quintet, with whom he continues to play with today. With Grisman, he has performed and recorded with many great string artists such as Martin Taylor, Stephane Grappelli, Jerry Garcia, and many others. Jim has played on five Grammy Nominated recordings. The Garcia/Grisman recording project (1990-1995) was a highlight of Jim’s career. Curt Moore – Drums Curt has been playing drums in a wide variety of styles for many years and has shared the stage and recording studio with musical artists spanning many musical styles. He has over 100 recordings to his credit. Some of the artists he has recorded and performed with include: Francisco Aguabella, Count Basie Orchestra, Chuck Berry, Ray Brown, Joyce Cooling, John Clayton, Richard Davis, Ian Dogole, Pete Escovedo, Bruce Forman, Lola Falana, Vic Firth, Mimi Fox, Scott Hamilton, Jimmy Haslip, Jimmy Heath, Jackie and Roy, Andy Narell, Patrick Palomo, Kat Parra, Bernadette Peters, Rufus Reed, Francios Rabatth, San Jose Jazz Orchestra, Turtle Island String Quartet, and his own group that he co-leads, a Latin-Jazz group called Soul Sauce. He also has many commercial and jingle dates to his credit.
