Fifth Sunday of Great Lent (kfifto/Crippled Woman) or (shamryoto/Good Samaritan)

The 'Fifth Sunday of Great Lent' (had'bshabo hmis'hoyo d'sawmo) according to the Liturgical Calendar of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Malankara. The Fifth Sunday of the Great lent is unique from a liturgical perspective. In the past, variations between liturgical calendars were not uncommon, especially between that of the Western (ma'erbo) & Eastern (madenho) traditions within the Syriac Orthodox Church. The Suryoye of the Middle East and their diaspora commemorates the parable of the Good Samaritan (al Shamryoyo tobo). However the Church in Malankara appears to have been influenced by the liturgical traditions of the Eastern tradition; therefore the liturgical calendars in Malankara dedicate the fifth Sunday to the Healing of the Crippled Woman (al Kfifto).
