Mor Ivanios Yuhannon +1794

April 18th is the anniversary of the demise of Mor Ivanios Yuhannon +1794. Mor Ivanios Yuhannon accompanied St. Baselios Shakralla Maphriyano to India as a Qashisho. He would be consecrated bishop by the saint in 1752 at Kandanad church. He was instrumental in reintroducing the West-Syriac Liturgy to the Malankara Church which had been freed from the clutches of Roman Catholic supremacy only a century prior. Mor Ivanios along with Mor Gregorios Yuhannon reconsecrated Mar Thoma VI as Mor Dionysius I. Together with Mor Dionysius I, Mor Ivanios Yuhannon would govern the Malankara Church. Mor Ivanios Yuhannon departed for the heavenly abode on April 18th 1794. His mortal remains were interred in Chengannur Old Syrian Church.
