UC Berkeley Haas: MLK Day of Service @ The Richmond Greenway

In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we invite you to join us on Monday, January 19th, for a day of community service and celebration at the Richmond Greenway in partnership with Urban Tilth.This federal holiday was designated as a national day of service over 30 years ago and is designed to be a "day ON"—rather than a day off—in alignment with honoring Dr. King's life, legacy, and aspiration of a beloved community marked by racial unity, justice for the betterment of all, and going beyond yourself. Event Details:Monday, January 19th, 2026 8:45am - 9am: Haasies meet at Unity Park basketball court 9am - 9:30am: Welcome & Instructions 9:30am - 11:30am: Volunteering at 16th St w/ Urban Tilth11:30am - 12:45pm: Free Lunch & Family-friendly community celebration (music, art, food trucks, resource fair) UNITY Park / Richmond Greenway Trail (1605 Ohio Ave, Richmond, CA 94804) - BART directionsOpen to all, registration required: volunteer sign up & waiverOnsite point of contact: Katrina Koski, Dir of Inclusion & Belonging, katrinakoski@berkeley.eduTo be added to the Haas bCal invite and included in comms leading up to the event, please reply directly to this email after you register.Last year 40+ Haasies (students, staff, alumni, faculty, and friends) showed up for a meaningful day of fun and service.
