Small Crafts on the River: In this clinic, we will go through a quick refresher on what a day in the life at ASA looks like, reminders about responsibilities and expectations while on a river program. While out on the water, we will be utilizing canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. While we are out paddling, we will discuss our safety precautions with small crafts on the water. We will dive into kayak paddling and other skilled based learning opportunities for our participants. The logistics of running small crafts on the river will look a bit different than a traditional rafting trip. We will talk about those differences and how that will affect the flow of the day. With the opportunity to run small crafts, we will be able to get some of our participants more independence on the water, as well as extend our rafting season when the water gets low.Experience: Should have taken a rafting clinic with ASA in the past or have a boating background. Have some experience paddling a small craft on a river. This clinic is tailored towards our returning volunteers who are looking to dive into guiding and supporting small crafts out on the river.
