Incorporating this set of core instructional skills into your teaching repertoire will allow medical faculty, both experience and junior, to become more effective educators and prepare residents for life-long learning (an ACGME core competency). The Stanford Faculty Development program priority skills of Creating a Positive Learning Climate, Communicating Goals, and Giving Feedback, are a practical and appropriate formal introduction to clinical instruction. Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be better able to:Identify actions for setting specific educational goals.Describe key components and behaviors for effectively setting and communicating educational goals.Identify assessment techniques to evaluate a learner's progress in achieving educational goals. Determine characteristics of effective feedback delivery.This activity is approved for 4.0* AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™
