Navigating Workplace Incivility: Strategies for Addressing Difficult Workplace Interactions

This session will take place in-person only in 478 O'Dowd Hall, Oakland University.Presented by Caitlin A. Demsky, Ph.D.Description:Workplace incivility is, unfortunately, a common workplace stressor, particularly within the context of healthcare. In this session, participants will learn to identify workplace incivility and the contexts that foster these negative behaviors. We will also discuss employee and organizational outcomes of workplace incivility. Finally, participants will work through several practical strategies for addressing workplace incivility, both directly and indirectly. Objectives:At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be better able to:Understand and identify contexts that foster workplace incivilityIdentify individual and organizational outcomes of workplace incivilityEffectively engage in strategies to address and minimize workplace incivility
