St3 STEM Enrichment

As part of our ongoing commitment this year to Enrichment and Extension, our next Enrichment activity will be focused on Engineering. The Stage 3 teachers and myself, have identified a number of students that may be interested or will be enriched by this opportunity. Your child was one student who has been selected. The experience will involve working with a partner, making from scratch either: a wooden automaton, a motor powered maze or a working speaker. They will explore the mechanics of how and why the contraption works and will also be able to bring home their finished piece to keep. They will work through following instructions, making mistakes, creating solutions and explaining to others what their contraption teaches us. It will also be an opportunity to work with a partner to help solve problems. It is a challenging and exciting opportunity for students to utilise their academic strengths, while working on a problem with someone else. As a participant in this opportunity, your child will have the chance to work collaboratively with a teammate to solve complex problems and complete a challenging task.
