(NET) Alpha • LM 400

A Firefly Aerospace Alpha rocket will launch on a flight designated FLTA007, to send an LM 400 demonstrator for Lockheed Martin into space. It will prove out the risk-reduction and pathfinding efforts the company has done for its mid-sized, multi-mission satellite bus. LM 400 was designed with greater propulsion and better low Earth orbit (LEO), medium Earth orbit (MEO), and geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) operability compared to others in its class. It also includes SmartSat, a software-defined architecture that gives customers even greater mission flexibility and the ability to perform on-board data processing. This is the second LM 400 demonstrator sat to be launched after the loss of the first one last year. The mission is named "Stairway to Seven". Alpha will also carry and test new avionics in shadow mode for the upcoming Block 2 variant of the launcher. - Delayed from 2025.
