St. Julian the Hermit (Youlyané Ounwoyo) also known as St. Elian of Emesa

February 7th is the commemoration of the dukhrono of St. Julian the Hermit according to the Liturgical Calendar of the Syriac Orthodox Church. Also known as Julian Saba (Julian Sobo) In hagiography: Julian Saba lived near Edessa and practiced extreme asceticism. He had many disciples, and he fought against the Arians for the case of orthodoxy in Antioch. Mor Youlyané Ounwoyo also known as Mor Elian was from Emesa (modern day Homs Syria). Church tradition tells us that he was a teacher of St. Ephrem the Syrian. He refused to renounce Christ & so was murdered by his father, a Roman officer. Thus Mor Youlyané attained the crown of martyrdom. A Monastery was built in his honour in the 5th century, however it was sadly destroyed by ISIS terrorists in 2015. Oh Mor Youlyané Ounwoyo!
